Delightful Cinnamon Apple Cake: A Warm Slice of Comfort

There’s something magical about the combination of cinnamon and apples — a pairing that evokes warmth, comfort, and nostalgia. This cinnamon apple cake brings those cozy feelings to life with each soft, flavorful bite. Whether you’re enjoying it as a morning treat with coffee or serving it as a dessert after dinner, this cake is sure to impress.

A Perfect Blend of Flavors

The magic begins with fresh apples, lending natural sweetness and moisture to every slice. Cinnamon adds a gentle warmth, perfectly complementing the fruit and creating a rich aroma that fills your kitchen as the cake bakes.

Ingredients You’ll Need:

2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour

• 1 teaspoon baking powder

• 1 teaspoon baking soda

• ½ teaspoon salt

• 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

• ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)

• ¾ cup (150g) granulated sugar

• ½ cup (100g) brown sugar, packed

• ½ cup (120ml) vegetable oil or melted butter

• 2 large eggs

• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

• ½ cup (120ml) plain Greek yogurt or sour cream

• 3 medium apples, peeled, cored, and chopped (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well)

• Optional: ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1: Preheat and Prepare

Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch (23cm) round cake pan or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.

Step 2: Mix the Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg (if using). Set this mixture aside.

Step 3: Combine the Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and oil (or melted butter) until smooth. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract and Greek yogurt (or sour cream) until the mixture is creamy and well combined.

Step 4: Bring It All Together

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring just until combined. Be careful not to overmix — the batter should be thick but smooth.

Step 5: Fold in the Apples

Gently fold the chopped apples into the batter. If you’re adding nuts, fold those in as well for a bit of crunch. The apples will add natural moisture and bursts of sweetness to the cake.

Step 6: Bake to Perfection

Pour the batter into your prepared cake pan, smoothing the top with a spatula. Bake in the preheated oven for 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. The top should be golden brown, and your kitchen will smell incredible.

Step 7: Cool and Serve

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. For an extra festive touch, dust the top with powdered sugar or drizzle with a simple glaze made from powdered sugar and a splash of milk.

Enjoy!

Slice and serve your Cinnamon Apple Cake warm or at room temperature. It pairs beautifully with a cup of coffee, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, or even a dollop of whipped cream. Whether you’re sharing it with loved ones or savoring it on a quiet winter evening, this cake is a delightful way to celebrate the season without the traditional fruit cake fuss.
