HURTFUL LOSS Ace Patton Ashford, an 18-year-old rodeo performer, passed away in a tragic accident involving a horse. This happened just a few weeks before he was set to achieve a goal he had been working towards for a long time. A young cowboy who competed in rodeo events passed away this week after being pulled across a field by his horse.Out of the blue, 18-year-old Ace Patton Ashford passed away on August 12 while assisting a sick cow.
The tragic incident happened at about 8 a.m. near Chilton, Texas, which is approximately 20 miles south of Waco.According to a report from NBC affiliate KPLCTV, trouble arose when Ashford and the calf frightened a horse nearby.The Lott Volunteer Fire Department stated that the man's leg got stuck, and the horse pulled him for a long way in a field.When Ashford was discovered, he had wounds on his head, but he was alive with a beating heart and breathing.He was then flown to the hospital by helicopter, but he passed away there due to his injuries.
They said Ashford was in a very bad condition when they found him.In Texas, Ashford was a talented cowboy who was close to achieving a lifelong dream this summer.The 18-year-old was about to begin college in a few weeks when something terrible occurred.He recently finished high school at Rosebud-Lott High School and was planning to attend Hill College in the upcoming fall.In his obituary, it was mentioned that he enjoyed rodeo and the lifestyle of the American West."Ace would spend countless hours practicing roping to become the best he could be," it stated.
